2 Headed Shark Attack: Reviewed!

Well, as you all know I've been watching the film 2 Headed Shark Attack for a very long time, since filming to be exact, and yesterday it was finally released. Of course I had to look at EVERY store I could to get my hands on this film, and luckily, Red Box had it.

My expectations for this film were a bit high, and everything I had hoped this movie would be, was. If that makes sense.

Let's start with the story line.. A semseter at sea with a bunch of college co-eds goes hay-wire when the ship sinks, but, luckily there's an island, or atolll, nearby so the co-eds and teachers take shelter there while the boat is being repaired. One enginerr's death later, the students soon realize that the atoll is sinking as well, and there's a two-headed shark lurking in the water. While trying to find ways to survive, the atoll is sinking, everyone is panicking, and the so on.

Evidently, this film had a great plot in my opinion. Kind of beats 2011's Shark Night 3D, in my opinion. The acting was pretty decent for the most part, while some of the minor characters kind of lacked, but, that didn't affect the film at all. The characters were very cliche, you had the nerd, badass hero-chick, wannabe hero-chick, dumb adults, and annoying extras, which made it fun to watch, over-all.

The special effects were hilariously great, if you ask me. With a combination of a silicone shark and CGI shark, the deaths were actually quite interesting. Some more realistic than others, though, I did giggle at most of them.

Now, what mainly caught my interest in this film is the fact that Brooke Hogan is in it, and I consider this to be her first serious film role considering Sand Sharks was nothing but a joke. This being her first film where she had a major role, I did expect her acting to be a bit "over-acted" but I was actually surprised at how well she did. As for Charlie O'Connell and Carmen Electra, the two other "main stars," well, their acting was pretty good, too. Charlie clearly over-powered Carmen, having more scenes than her didn't help, though.

I personally did enjoy this film, though it seemed to drag with all the "OMG, what do we do now?"-esque situations, but, the kick-ass ending totally made up for that.

I give this film a 7/10, while having a fun plot, decent special effects, and quality B-movie action, this film did have it's flaws, which I won't discuss because I don't want to give too much away.

If you're a fan of B-movies then you will love this, but, if you're a Jaws fanatic and you're expecting Speilberg quality, then give this film a pass.

Now, stop reading here if you DON'T want to be spoiled, because I'm going to discuss the last 10 or 15 minutes of the film here.

Still reading? Okay, well, the atoll finally sank and the last remaining, er, six or seven students are all stranded in the water, so the run into this wooden-shed-like structure and hide from the two-headed menace. The shark eventually breaks in so four of the seven or so decide to try fighting it off while Kate, Paul, and a girl who's name I think is Dana, run off into the water to try to think of a plan. When the sharks finish off the dumbasses, it comes for the final three. They conduct a plan to shove a gas tank into one of the heads and hopefully blow the shark up. Kate decides to lure the shark (which was oh-so very brave of her after a traumatic situation discussed earlier in the film) and of course, everything goes wrong. Kate almost dies, which actually made my freakout because Brooke's acting in the scene was the most intense in the movie, but anyway. Dana ends up as the wannabe hero who gets torn to shreds, but somehow still manages to ignite the gas tank and blow off one of the sharks head. Evidently, Kate and Paul blow the shark up using a left over boat and live happily ever after.
